Im looking for a new car and I got it down to a 04 2.5 RS or a mazda 6. I would love to get a wrx but I know the insurance would kill me cuz I'm only 17. If I get the newest 2.5, would 04 wrx bodykits, suspension(coilovers), or rims fit?
I really wanted a 2001 (old body style) 2.5 rs, but they seem impossible to find in Arizona.. One more question: I'm sure this is a pretty dumb question cause I already know the answer, but wrx are consider sports car right? Or will it be under the same category as like 1.8T Jetta or GTI's? |

All body, interior, and suspension parts for an 04+ wrx will fit in 04 RS. Plus a lot of stuff for an 02-03 wrx will fit too.

So then is it conisder a sports car still then...... Cuz I would think it would be like a 1.8 T or something like that since it's four doors and is turbo charged. Maybe like in the category of sports sedan. But then what make the insurance so expensive?

Re: 2004 2.5 Rs??
The Impreza coupe was considered a sports car.
The current body style, in WRX form is considered a sports sedan. |

Insurance companies usually aren't concerned about what 'catagory' the car is in, but rather the number of times and amount of money they have to pay out for that model. I think insurance companies only catagorize cars when they are new and they don't have enough hard data to assess the actual model (in other words they'll lump new models in with other models they think are similar until enough specific data is collected on that model).
WRX's are expensive to insure because they are a top target for theft, so insurance companies have to pay out more often than they do less 'popular' cars. It may also be true that WRX's are more likely to crash than RS's (i.e. more power/more crashes) and the cost of replacing/repairing them is higher, so that would affect their relative insurance rates. The other half of the equation is your personal data (age, sex, location). But there's not much you can do about that. |
