Thumbs up Me v Civic

Well I was on Pioneer and I pass this black Civic, not sure what year but it had the triangled taillights so Im guessing 97+? Dont know. So I get to a stop light and hes behind me and I get to my left lane minding my business and here he comes riding by me and I didnt really think nothing of it. Give it a little more gas so I can lose him a bit and he keeps right next to me. I take her off of o/d but didnt really floor it and when I hear him get on it, I didnt quite exactly gun it but I gave it some gas. I wasnt thinking much of it until it started pulling a bit. I couldnt do anything but brake cause there was a car infront of me. Ok so he pulled on me. Here I was like " I have to redeem myself. "

Luckily the light infront of us turned red and I lower down my window and tell him that I couldnt really get on it and if he would like to go on light. He said sure whatever. I ask him "What do you got under there?" He replies ""

I then say "Hmm... B16 or B18?" He replied "B18" I smiled and he nodded and now waited for the light to turn green. Once the light turned green, my car lost alot of a traction that the rear end send itself to the right a little probably scaring the guy next to me I put a couple of cars on him and a couple of more but it wasnt until around 85+ somewhere around there, not sure wasnt keeping an eye on the tach, that he starting gaining ground and really got close to me. My facial expression was this:

Im not certain if he would have passed me but he was catching up pretty quick. We both shut off with him behind me because there was a car in his lane. He switches lanes and I give the guy a thumbs up and he just nods again. Guess what? Another red light

This time it was a short run. Good launch on both of us but I still had him by around two cars when we shut down. Wave at the guy and do my U-turn cause by now I was running late for my class. Quick little car. Im guessing he was battling traction problems from a stop with the way I kept pulling from him but Im sure from a roll it would have been extremely close with him probably edging me out.... never know unless I find him again

**Any of you guys think I over-use smilies?? **

ur expressions during the race are classic...

nice run, however if its the "triangle" style tails, then its most likely a 7th gen (01-up.)

haven't seen many b18's swapped into those, but...im impressed (sure he was too), that u had the presence of mind to name off the motors.

ur gonna lose to a honda...soon...i can feel it

good run buddy.

***edit*** can a b18 fit in a 7th gen civic with no problems?

Re: Me v Civic

I've raced both 5.0's and 4.6's and I always seem to lose from a dig. From a 35mph or 65mph roll it's very close, but I end up edging ahead around 90-100. As for a B18 in an 01-03 Civic, that's doubtful. He probably had a K20 (Si) engine or something. A B18 swap is just too in-depth of a swap for an average joe to put in that car, and somebody smart/rich enough to do it probably wouldn't be spending his time on a Honda... I guess it will remain a mystery.

but a b18 is possible on a 7th gen right? with some minor modifications that is?

what about a k20 in a 7th gen? you dont need that much modifications putting that kinda motor in the chasis of the 7th gen right?

I didnt see anywhere that you may have said, but was it a hatch? Cause the newer hatches arent triangular, but I sort of would consider these somewhat triangular and then it would be possible for him to have a B18.

Re: Me v Civic

sorry about that. the 7th generation civic i was referring to was the coupe...not the hatch. the coupe was the one that had the triangular tails. much like the focus has.

I know. I meant that for DkShadow, cause I dont think he mentioned it.

I agree, especially on the integras, I like the reverse lights to be clear(98 and ups...nice).

I personally havent seen/heard of any 7th gen coupes that are quick. They've reved on me as I've driven by so I'm guessing maybe if we were lined up they think they would have a chance (j/k). Most of them are all showed up, but dont seem to have performance mods except the basics, and I doubt thered be any of them swapped. I'll keep looking though.

ah, i dunno if jus cuz something is difficult he wouldn't be "wasting his time on a honda." thats the beauty of the things, its a challenge to make them quick (even tho u are correct, u'd think the guy woulda jus gone k20 if he was going to spend the time/money)...

hehe...3.5 gen teg tail's pwn j00

Re: Me v Civic

It was a coupe, sorry if I left that out. I really dont know what he had. I just told him if it was either of the two and he said b18. He didnt want to tell me what it had though.
