EK CIvic DX transmission on civic EX of same year - worthwhile?

I will be getting my car soon, as many of you know, and I'm seriously considering a silver 99-00 EX.

Now, the EX has taller gear ratios than a Civic DX. Now, if I swapped the DX tranny in (selling the EX trans for a similar price of the DX trans) then I would have closer ratios keeping my little SOHC VTEC in the powerband.

Good or bad idea?

Don't worry, a swap would be definetly there - but with limited funds....

Someone suggested to me before that I do the opposite ie. get an EX tranny for my DX and it should improve my 1/4 time

The DX tranny has taller gears....you don't want to get it unless you are going turbo.

The DX is geared for better gas mileage which means longer gears.
