Kinda newb-ish question about a '92 Civic Stereo mount...
A few months ago, my girlfriend's car was broken into and, someone stole her stock stereo. I bought her one for Christmas and, then found out that the person had taken her stock stereo mounts as well.
I have searched at salvage yards, E-bay, Parts Express, and various other Honda parts and performance sites (as well as Honda's website....yeah...useless) and, can't find the stock mount. Basically, all I have to work with is the 2 screw holes facing outwards from the console frame to mount anything to so, I can't mount the cage that came with the head unit. Anyone have any pointers, sites or suggestions on how I can mount it into the factory stereo location? I know i could mount it below dash or whatnot but, that would leave a nice gaping hole in the dash. By the way, this car does NOT have the pocket area below the stereo as most "universal" mounting kits have on them. It is barely bigger than the typical single DIN sized Sony CD stereo. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide |

Re: Kinda newb-ish question about a '92 Civic Stereo mount...
conventionally the cage is mounted in the DIN opening and the stereo slid through with a large backstrap connecting the rear of the stereo to a stable piece of metal in the subdash.
however if the dash is broken to not allow this you can try a few things. 1. buy some abs plastic ($20 - for a 12X12 sheet) and cut to the size of the cage and then cut and mold to contour of the dash then get creative behind that with some custom backstrap bracketry to support it. If not that you could buy a metal trim ring that would serve the same purpose. either way you are looking at some custom intuitive bracketry to support it. good luck
