I have a 94 F150 (and I just LOVE it) but I have a question about the Check Engine Light. A few weeks ago my truck was idling rough at times. My husband diagnosed it as clogged injectors and generic "crud" in the fuel system. PRobably bad gas. I purchased a $8 version of a super fuel cleaner-type stuff at autozone and put most in the front tank and a little left in the rear tank, then proceeded to mortgage my home to fill both tanks with super-supreme gas. I am about 1/4 the way through the first tank and have noticed my Check Engine Light (or Dummy light as I like to call it) comes on for a few seconds, then goes off. It does this a few times on my 15 minute drive to work.
Question is: Is this possibly because my exhaust is throwing out some of the previously stated "crap" and it's throwing the sensor into a tizzy? Truck seems to be idling better, so the fuel cleaner must be working..? |

Re: Sporadic Check Engine Light
Could be a sensor going out to though. Maybe exhaust sensor...Cant give you the 100% sure answer, but as long as the light goes off {soft code} it will be hard to tell untill you get a hard code {light stays on} Best of luck to ya though!
