Service Engine Soon Light (2001 SC1)
My service engine soon light went on last week... After filling the gas tank it went off but returned a while later and has stayed on since... I've had no noticeable problems since the light has been on... In fact, I just got back from an 800-mile roundtrip with no problems.
The manual mentions a possible vehicle emissions problem but I'm not sure... None of the possible reasons it gives for the light apply... The car has about 78,000 miles on it... I got an oil change this weekend (it was due) but the light remains. Any information would be appreciated. |

Re: Service Engine Soon Light (2001 SC1)
I have a 2000 SC2. My service engine soon light started coming on in January of 2003. Since then I have taken it in 14 times in one year for the same light--evaporative system failure. I never have problems driving the car, but Saturn has no idea why the light keeps coming on. They have changed the fuel tank, pressure sensors, temp. sensors, the computer, the wires. It's in the shop right now. Waiting to see why the light is on yet again.

Re: Re: Service Engine Soon Light (2001 SC1)
Sharkie21, Have you replaced your gas cap? I work at emissions testing here in ohio, most common problem for evap control codes is either a sensor in tank or that gas cap is bad. These damn dealers feed customers a line of shit most of the time. Also dealers do not have equipement to test a gas cap, all they can do is look at it, but I see a half dozen new looking caps a day, that don't hold pressure, and cause vehicles check engine lights to come on. New chrysler caps are the worst, but others go bad also
As for the first post check engine light is related to emissions, car may be running fine, though your gas mileage is probably suffering. Read this link, it explains all. http://autos.msn.com/volvo/article.a...022287&src=MSN |

Re: Service Engine Soon Light (2001 SC1)
take the car in to autozone or somewhere to check the code. also, you said it came back on after you filled the tank. If you used cheap gas, it can make the light go on; saturn octane rating is 87.
