A/C/\Heater Problem 97 GT

Could anybody tell me why when i turn the knob for any setting of air or heater that notch number one doesn't blow anything out but 2 through 5 do. Once again, it doesn't matter what setting its on as far as vent or a/c or circulated air, etc. Just the amount of power being put out.

Re: A/C/\Heater Problem 97 GT

Well looks like that the resistor used to control fan speed just blew part of it. The slower the fan motor revs more of the resistance you are using. Looks like that the resistor element between contact for 2 and 1 speeds is blown. Replace the resistor. It is located on the A/C under your dash. Is a relative simple process to replace it.

I just had that same problem on my 99 and the dealer replaced the resistor. Evidentially the resistor regulates the speed of the blower motor when you change the settings, and it can be damaged fairly easily. I'm not sure how much it would cost to fix because mine was fixed under warrenty (thank God).
