Delete People!!

what i think af should do is delete people's accounts if they are inactive for a certain number of days, lets say 30. i would think this would make the server go faster cuz even though i have roadrunner, this is one of the slower sites i go on and this site i am on for about 75% of my time im on the net. so free up server space.

Re: Delete People!!

1. This is the wrong forum to post this in as I dont think this has anything to do with a new forum for the boards.

2. Although the idea is good, there are actually people on these boards that have to leave for certain amounts of time and cant use a computer during that time to log in(i.e Snowboarder who is gone on a mission[he is mormon]and wont be back for a couple years from that)So you see, that would unfairly delete the accounts of members who would like to be on but are unable to due to circumstances.

This probably is the wrong forum for this, but here's an idea:

Give users the option to "lock up" their account indefinitely, i.e., after giving a password confirmation, the user's account will be protected from deletion until "unlocked." All other accounts will be subject to deletion after, say, 60 days of inactivity. That way, people who just sign up and then never do anything on the forums will be deleted, but those who know they will be AFK for a long time can protect their account. Users should not be allowed to post while locked and only allowed to lock once per X number of days to prevent abuse.

My .02 worth.

i think that people who are ghoing away should notfy the board of this via e-mail, but people who just sign up and do nothing should be deleted after a period of time.

That is actually a pretty good idea. I bet with a little bit of working out some kinks, that would work pretty well.
