Help 1994 Grand Prix 3.1 sedan master cylinder problems?? (antilock breaks)
The break pedal just went to the floor. Luckily did not get into an accident. This is the second time something like this happens in less than 2 years.
I had to replace the master cylinder twice. Is there a problem with this braking system? Was there a recall that I was not aware of? SHould I take it to a dealer or is this something any mechanic can repair. The two times it happened I took the car to local mechanics. Please advise. Thanks Alex |

Re: Help 1994 Grand Prix 3.1 sedan master cylinder problems?? (antilock breaks)
My first guess would have been the Master Cylinder, but replacing twice would have ruled that out. My next guess would be a malfunction with your ABS system, at least if it the brake pedal thing doesn't happen every time you push on it. Sounds like you might want to find a reputable mechanic or just bite it and take it into a dealer. the only other thing I would suggest is to inspect the brake lines for a leak. Hope that helps.

I agree, befor checking the master cylinder you should check for leaky lines. This has happened to me twice and my Z-34 even tought has disc brakes on all corners had seals problems on the rear calipers and the behaviour was just what you present here. Check for leaks first.
