1994 grand am 3.1 L cruz control problem

My 94 grand am 3.1 L cruise control is not working anyone have any helpful ideas I replaced the power steering on it would that have anything to to with it

The power steering has nothing to do with the cruise control. There are a couple of items that you need to check. First there is a fuse that controls it. If the fuse is bad then just replace it. If the cruise won't set or resume it could be in the stalk on the steering wheel. These will go bad and not allow it to work properly. You can get one from a parts store for about $50. You will need to remove the steering wheel to replace it. If it comes on but the car surges you will need to replace the canister under the hood. They work on vacuum and if the bladder inside gets a hole in it or water infiltrates it, it will not work properly. I would go to a wrecking yard to get one. They are fairly inexpensive to purchase used.
