Removing tail lights

i have a 1996 Acura 2.5 TL...i tried to remove the headlights in order to paint the housing black...i thought it would be easy but i proved harder that i thought!...HOW THE HELL DO YOU REMOVE THE HEADLIGHTS! :o anyone that has done it before please let me know. Thanks!
