2 barrel makeover?

hello,
i own a 1968 pontiac catalina, 400cid 2 barrel, i am restoring this car at the moment.
my question is, is it possible and wise to put a 4 barrel intake and carb on the engine?
i don't know if i got to change the heads and cam...
the vin # is 252878c136278, engine code is yc, on the heads are the numbers f288 and f286, the block says gm12 and 817833, on the intake it says f248 and f278.
does anyone know what this means? or where i can find more info about this engine and car?

oilburner from holland.
