Anybody had any experience with installing 6-1/2" components (Infinity Kappa (or any kind, for that matter)) on the front doors in a 1997 Nissan P11 Primera? I haven't bought them yet, but I just wanted to know if it's much of a bitch to get done. On the topic, though, what are some of the opinions and experience you guys have had with the various brands of mid range speakers? |

Re: Infinity Kappa Mid Range
I personally have only installed 6 1/2" speakers in my rear deck (P10). They screwed right into the existant holes... Too bad the plasicboard that sits over the speakers had to be cut!

I hope that helped even a little!

Thank yow, thank yow very much!!! Yeah, that's helpful. I read somewhere that if the 6-1/2"s aren't the shallow basket design, you're gonna havta cut. I want 6-1/2"s in front, but I don't want to cut the door. Oh well, we'll see!!! |

Good luck!
About the only thing I know (which may only apply to p10s) is that the door speakers are 4x6 plates.... But then Best Buy's computer is trying to convince me that 6 1/2" are standard!!! Go figure! Keep us updated on what's happening!

As for the cutting I did... You know that "fuzzy" board that is attached to the speaker grilles??? My stock speakers were actually smaller than the hole made for them, and were sitting in a plate of sorts... Well the new speakers were genuine to the size of the metal hole, but then the pre-cut hole in the plasticboard (the fuzzy one) was too small b/c it was cut for the smaller speakers. I just took a carpet knife and hacked away at it! *lol* It isn't pretty right now, but I'm going to get my hands on a Dremmel tool to round off the edges. Now the speakers fit, and they sound great! I hope that helped!

I too have the Kappa 4x6 plates in front and the Kappa 652i's in the rear. They fit ok on my 95, but i didn't think to look at the carpet covering... i just know they bolted right in... oops. As for 6.5" components, I know someone locally who put a set of polk components in the front of his 96 P10. He used a 4x6 - 6.5" adapter used for a cavalier, i think, and then still had to cut some of the stock stuff for the speaker to fit in the front. But, everything he modified is hidden behind those grills in teh front and the sound is phenominal!!!! I'm evenutally going to install 6.5" Kappa components in teh front, but that's not for a long time now... i'm really happy with the 4x6 plates and the stock tweaters in the A pillars.
