Nope, you would need a 6 bolt block/crank. If you are going to the trouble of swapping rods and pistons anyway, why not spend a couple hundred on a used 6 bolt block/crank and do the full conversion and be done with it. The same machine work will be required in either case, etc.

yea im going to go to a 6-bolt here soon, just waiting on the money

there is a local gunkyard with a 99 gs-t 6-bolt for sale with like 13,000 miles on it. Im think about just getting what i need for a 6-bolt swap and doing it that way.

Just to be sure you understand, 6 bolt motors only came in the 90-92 cars. Anda few very late 92s have 7 bolts. From then on every 4g63 was a 7 bolt. See www.vfaq.com for how to tell them apart by the oil pan if you come across some 1Gs in the junkyard.

Nope, but there was a thrust bearing design change in mid 1997 (98 model year) that may be the contributing factor to the 98-99s seeming less prone to crankwalk.

The 99 is too young to say wether or not it will get crankwalk, but the odds are very very slim. If the 99 is priced reasonably, I would go that route unless you plan to make over 400-450 whp.

Everything one would need to do the 6 bolt conversion can be found at www.magnusmotorsports.com under the tech article section.
