Smile 175 or 141? Spec V

Guys listen, btw I just brought my 02 Spec V tonight, the only one I've seen in Jersey and the 1st one that dealership has sold, but anyway. Nissan didn't make any mistakes, this is what happened (I know because I use to sell Nissans). When an import manufacture makes a car and the window sticker (usually 4-bangers), it rates the hp by the flywheel, not the wheels! The hp to the wheels is what actually counts though, but it does technically have 175 hp!! Acura did the same thing with the GS-R claiming it has 170 hp, but when dyno tested it only has 140 or so TRUE to the WHEELS hp. Look up any Import Racer mag when companies advertise superchargers or intakes or pretty much any mod for a GS-R (dont know why they like to use them) and it will say "Stock hp:140-143 blah blah blah" I just wanted to clarify that up for some of you. BTW I love my Spec-V and I think because of the tprque it would crush a RSX Type-S, Celica GT-S, Integ GS-R, Protege, 626, Cavalier Z24, Viper, Corvette, 911.....

i am still a little disappointed with the wheel hp of the SpecV
it's a 20$ drivetrain loos, not that bad the RSX-type S has the same amount of drivetrain loss

but then it does look bad when you look at Ford and the SVT
the focus is rated at 170hp and on the dyno it produces 147hp at the wheeels, only a 14%loss

personally my bets are on the focus as being faser but not by much, and I still think the SpecV can beat a tsx type s on the track any day of the week 180lb/ft ownz

Question What engine is in the SVT?

What size engine is in the SVT? Whats the torque and displacement? The Spec-V also has helical LSD and its badass. 1st and 2nd was a little squirrelly for me but I was spinning in place.

it's a highly tuned version of the 2liter ZeTec motor in the ZX3, SE Sport, ZTS and ZTW(ZeTec Touring Wagon)

I beleive the window sticker states 180bhp(i could be wrong) whitch is brake horsepower meaured with a resistive brake dyno (i think water is involved somehow) atached to the output of the motor. Even the bigger cars are measured this way. the Max for example may say 220+ but i think you would be lucky if you got 190 or so on a chassis dyno. But don't quote me on this

yes. people have dyno'd their SE's and seen mid-120's.

the GXE/XE's only have ~100hp.

Every car has that "problem." Its not a lie or anything. Manufacturer's just quote the flyhweel hp because its higher and it makes the car sound better, but keep in mind that no matter what the wheel hp is, the flywheel hp is important also. You lose hp through the drivetrain. Things like light flywheels and pulleys help get your horses to the ground. Btw the Spec-V's window sticker says 175.
