Early one morning last week I connected my trailer light connector to the connector on my Yukon as usual but when I began to drive off I noticed that my dash lights were totally out. I tried the dimmer knob but apparently that wasn't the issue. All other lights in the interior of the vehicle are fine, however, I just discovered that my rear running lights are not functioning either. I looked at the fuse panel and all fuses appear to be fine.
Anyone have any idea what has happened or where to begin troubleshooting? It would appear that something with the trailer wiring harness may have shorted something? Thanks in advance, Pcolaboy |

Re: '96 Yukon SLT - Dash and running lights dead
Look under the hood on the drivers side, there's a box marked "Electrical Relays" its one of those, I think they can be reset but if not replaced.

Thanks for the reply. I did actually check all the relays the same day I checked the fuses. Yesterday, I removed the tail light lamps, and reseated them. Still dead. Then I changed ALL fuses with brand new ones even though none indicated that they were blown. Guess what...with the new fuses in place the Tail Lamp fuse blew. I then put in yet another new fuse and it fixed both problems. Very weird situation indeed. I talked with a number of local mechanics that I am acquainted with and they've never heard of that one before. Wild!
