Red face I HAD to do it...

Due to some recent issues, I had almost sworn-off impromptu street-racing...but...I saw a kid today that I just HAD to mess with.

Here goes:

As I was pulling-up to the Blockbuster near my house, I see this incredibly riced-out black Del Sol.

It had black-and-red graphics to "complement" the car's black paint, white rims to "set-off" the car, a "CivicTypeR" badge in red near the rear-wheels, and SiR on the back, by the trunk.

Oh wait...don't let me forget the large carbon-fiber wing, perfect for creating turbulence, to throw the competition's aerodynamics into whack (IF they were behind).

The dude driving it was just getting in with his (pretty cute) girfriend.

I asked him "whatcha got in there?" He goes, "b16...stuff." "Quick enough to race a stock Sentra?", I asked. He goes, "of course!"

I thought about it for a second, and thought to myself "fuck it! This kid needs a lesson", and got it in my car to follow Sol boy.

He makes the turn left into traffic, and I get stuck for a bit, but finally made it and he was far ahead behind another car at the light.

As I approach the intersection, the light turned green, with the car in front of the Del Sol making good headway, giving the Del Sol good space, which he takes, with me right behind him. I was waiting for him to line it up, as there was no traffic in front of us, but as soon as he gets into the clearing, he steps on it! Fucker...

So, I downshift to second, and chase, with him about three cars ahead already by the time I downshifted.

He either was lying about the b16 with "stuff", or he needed a tune or he sucked at driving, because the 3-4 car-lengths lead he had was eaten-up in a hurry, and I ended-up ahead of him by 1 and 1/2 cars before we had to slow down for traffic ahead that was stopped at a light.

I took the center-lane, and rolled-down my window to see his reaction, but he kept his windows up, and took the left-turn lane (*clucking sounds*).

I followed behind him at the turn-lane, thinking he'd probably floor it as soon as he clears the turn...nope. He makes a turn into a grocery-store parking lot.

I slowed-down to see if he would signal for me to pull-in too...but nah...he chose to firmly keep his head turned away from me, LOL.

I guess I "learned" him...

Re: I HAD to do it...

I was in my s13 silvia k's about 5 years ago and thought I would do about the same thing to a guy in an Ef civic (89 or so) He had it decked out a little, but I had a turbine swap and a little this and that and besides the sr20 is so much faster than the b16. Of course I got smoked by this guy. Turns out when we pulled into the service area (racing here is done at nights usually off of service areas.) he popped his hood and had almost the same engine config I did but a lot less weight.
Talk about eating humble pie.

Remember one day that dork with the airbus wing and stupid graphics may have a friend can tune....

I completely agree, as I used to have a b16-powered car myself (2G 'Teg) that would give my SR20 car a good run, if not beat it outright...but, you should have seen the smirk on the dude's face when I pointed to my Sentra, as if he thought I was deranged for even thinking of racing his "racecar". I knew then that he was no "tuner" (besides the clue from the badges), because if somebody with a stock-looking POS ever challenged me if I were driving an obviously modified car, I would ask first what was under the hood before I start getting cocky...not that I'd get cocky at all...or drive an obviously-modified car .
