Question 95 Trans Sport CD Player/AM-FM radio

Just like that, my AM/FM CD player radio won't turn on. I've checked both of the fuses mentioned in my manual and nothing... The clock works and I can insert a CD and the eject button works, but the power won't turn on to my radio. Any ideas how to reset this?

Thanks in advance,

C. Smith

I've pretty much traced this down to occuring since I disconnected my battery to change out my heater core. I thought that maybe my theftlock system was doing this, but after reviewing the manual and checking it out, the theftlock was disabled and there is no LOC code showing up on the screen. So far, the clock works, I can enable and disable the theftlock codes, but there is no power to the radio.

Looking for a clue

Re: 95 Trans Sport CD Player/AM-FM radio

Not sure what to think about my AM/FM CD player not wanting to turn on for the past couple of days, I decided to try the button one last time this afternoon and to my amazement the radio came to life and I could listen to tunes. Damn Gremlins invading my circuit board.

Just like my radio/CD! Anyone have any clue where to find the problem? Bad connection anywhere?

Since no one else could answer, I have to answer myself:

Behind the power push-button, there is a membrane switch (integrated with the RCL-button). The metal folio in the switch is bended 180 deg. at one end, and the folio could therefore breake. This has happened to the menbrane switch in my radio and I guess a lot of other radios.

I made a new switch out of a piece of a circuit card and a menbrane switch from inside of a PC keyboard!

My radio is now working again, including the steering wheel controls.

Anyone not able to repair the radio himself has to send the radio to a specialist, they charge 100-150 $.

one example of a Delco specialist: http://www.delcorepairs.com/

i hope someone reads this

I've read the thread and it is along the lines of my question but doesn't quite answer it.

I just bought a 97 Transport- Great condition, runs FINE Looks even better but ONE problem..

Thats right- Factory CD deck - No backlight.

I have to use my memory (which is already poor) to remember what track I'm playing, etc. Also have to listen for a DJ on different stations to know which station it is...

Some of my friends/family say live with it- "how often do you change channels, etc" but I say BULL! I want it to work.. I have no problem working on the radio- soldering in a new bulb (if thats the repair)

before i rip the car apart, and the stereo for that matter, I just wanted to know if anyone has done this, or if it can't be done, etc.

Thanks!

-Chris
