Question Stolen mirrors...

My son has a 2004 Tiburon. A few nights ago, he came home without either side mirrors, which apparently were stolen. The doors were locked (he thinks) and if someone DID remove the door panels, they replaced them perfectly (nice thieves?). There are no scratches on the outside of the car, only several screw holes where the mirrors went.

Here's my question: Is it possible to remove the side mirrors on a 2004 Tiburon without access to the inside of the car? Thanks!

You cannot remove the mirrors from the outside without taking a sawzall to the doors. There is a small triangular piece on the inside of the doors above the door panels. You can remove that to take the mirrors off, without taking the door panels completely off. I am the parts manager at a Hyundai dealership in Indianapolis. Here are the part numbers for the mirrors.

LH Mirror
87610-2C000 power w/out heat List = $106.37
87610-2C010 power w/heat List = $209.45
RH Mirror
87620-2C700 power w/out heat List = $217.96
87620-2C710 power w/heat List = $177.35 (yes, w/heat is cheaper on the passenger side for some reason)
Mirror base covers
LH
87608-2C000 List = $8.46
RH
87609-2C000 List = $8.46

I'll give you body shop cost of 15% off of list if you are interested, shipping included.

Call 1-866-263-7920, ask for John in parts.

Thanks,
John Nance, Parts Manager

I stand corrected. You would have to remove the door panel to get the mirrors off. I forgot that the mirrors on the Tiburon are actually attached to the door itself and not the pillar.

something sounds fishy... what kinda crook would steal only the mirrors if he had access to the inside?

i would ream your son a little more...see if you can get the real truth out of him.

lowsonoma, can you get 15%off all parts? cause that could help me out a little.

I can give you 15% or close to, depending on the parts. Some parts there is a huge difference between my cost and list, and some parts there is hardly any. We moved our Hyundai franchise to a different side of town into a new huge building and service is slow right now until people learn that we are out here, so I'm trying to do something to get some money flowing through parts. My wholesale business for body shops is fine and where it was when I was at my old building, but I delive those parts so they don't care where they come from. But trying to get customers to drive an extra 15 mins to get to our new place is hard. Once they get here and see how nice the place is, they love it and continue to come back, but its getting them in the door thats the problem. But, back to topic at hand, I'll give you a discount, and depending on the parts whether I'd have to charge for shipping. Shipping usually isn't but a few bucks. Let me know what you need. You can post it on here, which I try to check a few times a day, or you can call me at 1-866-263-7920, ask for John in parts. My direct line is 317-613-7048.

Thanks,

We have yet to hear when we they will be available. When I first heard about them, I was told it was going to be soon, but that was months ago and I haven't heard a word about it since then. My Hyundai rep is out on disability for awhile from a motorcycle accident, and the temporary rep doesn't know a whole lot about it, plus he only comes in once a month if we're lucky. Once I hear anything I'll be posting.

Hyundai doesn't offer the folding mirrors, at least not in the states.
