Thumbs up Raced a Sonoma a few minutes ago...

A few minutes ago on the way back from the movies, I was at a redlight beside a black sonoma. Anyways I tapped the gas, not trying to induce a race. However, when the light turned green, I do as I always do and take off pretty quickly. However, this guy was not having any of this. He floored the gas. I was glad to see this and did the same. I threw the truck into second, gunned it and started gaining on him. He must have had a six cylinder because he started pulling back away from me. I shifted to third, and really started coming up on him. I left the truck in third until I felt I needed to shift to fourth. By this time I was already about 2 car lengths ahead. We stopped racing at the next light. My top speed was unknown as my speedo only registers to 85:o However, I had the needle buried for a good while. He came by and gave me a nod. It felt really good as I was in the mood to race, plus I was irritated from all the traffic in North Charleston(really busy place).:sun:

Nice! My bro has a Mazda Truck which he tries to race but it keeps on dying on him... i had to tow it once with my integra which i will never do again.... those old trucks don't brake very good without the engine being on..... we had a very short chain we used and it almost hit the back of my car a couple of times.

not to mention those times when i hit the gas and he had his hand brake on so i was totally doing a burn out in the middle of the street....

i told him to just call a tow truck next time... ha ha ha

Talking LOL

I think that would have been hilarious to see, but there's no way in Hell I would attempt it.

well.. if you caught him, i doubt its a six. i have a 94 s10 with a six in it, and the fucker goes like mad. it would destroy any 4 cyl s10 around... the power diff is roughy 30ish hp as well as the tq diff... he most likely got a great jump on you...
nice kill tho

also... do you have the stock shifter?

i have the hurst short throw, and it is a wicked piece... they are rebuilding it right now, and i put the factory back in... wow... the shift throw is almost three times what the hurst is... definitely worth the 150 or so bucks i paid for it... except that i got mine before they realized they forgot an oil seal, and i have trans fluid all over the driveway... but they are rebuilding it for free...

i also have a different handle that is shorter... if you are interested, let me know, i'll get a pn for ya....

it might have been a 4 since I did start gaining on him, but that thing was way louder than a 4 IMO

sound isnt everything...
there is a guy i work with that has a 4cyl with a nice exh on it that sounds really deep and 6cyl ish, but he runs 17s in the 1/4. its a stick, and a great looking truck... it sounds hella good....

my truck is a 6cyl with a gibson exh and "custom" (read: torn apart and rebuilt) intake on it, and it is relatively quiet...

so to each his own, but a 4cyl can be pretty loud, and if you caught him it prolly wasnt a six, b/c you have a four... :licker:
