Talking Is my check engine light dead?

I've just come to the conclusion there must be something wrong with my check engine light. I see all these posts with peoples check engine lights coming on, even in the newer 02 models. I now have 125,000 miles on my 92 Max and the light has never come on. Surely the 02 sensor is dead by now, the knock sensor, or even the TPS?

I guess I'm just lucky .

Re: Is my check engine light dead?

Damn, now I see people complaining for their cars being in good condition???

You kidding, right? Be happy if your CE light didn't come up. I mean you could easily tell if something wrong by the sound of the engine and such (in many if not most cases).

you can easily know if your check engine light is working:

turn the key without starting the motor, you should see some lights in the dash turn on. At this moment your check engine light should be one of those lights that should be on. If it isn't it probably needs a bulb replacement.

Well at least this is how it works on a 4th Generation Maxima, I should suppose it is the same in your Generation Maxima also.

Re: Is my check engine light dead?

Where would you get a bulb replacement for the CEL and what kind of bulb is it? A little while after I got a CEL and replaced the O2 sensor my CEL died. It doesn't come on when I turn the key, and it also didn't come on when I pulled the fuel pump fuse to change the fuel filter.

At least I'm hoping it's just the light... I won't be too happy if it's anything bigger than that.
