Question 1996 2wd no drl's or low beams

ok hears my deal. I have a 96 2wd tahoe with 122,000 miles. about 1 week ago i flipped the light switch strait up (headlights on) i didnt have any low beams; although the high beams would work fine when switched on. The fuses are all good, and so are the bulbs.
I called a buddy of mine that works at a local gm dealership, he came over and out of his 97 truck we swithced out the drl module, the drl relay, and the headlight and dimmer switch. we tried all possible combinations without any luck.
So i thought to myself, ill just run my drl's at mid switch, (drl and parking lights on) and if i need high beams ill turn the switch strait up.
Now, here we are a week later, and i now have no drl's or low beams at all! last night i went into town and i had drl's for roughly 10 minutes, then the just went off. Only had high beams. So this morning i went back out and i still have only high beams.

....any light at the end of tunnel???

back probe the dimmer switch at terminal A, should be tan wire, this is your low beam power circuit (battery voltage), if you have no power on this circuit with headlamps on and low beams selected then you have a open in the dimmer (called multifunction switch). if you have power and no power to the headlamps then you will have to trace the open, since your high beams work the circuit from the headlamp switch to the dimmer switch is good, the low and high beams both use this circuit for a input to the dimmer switch. couldn't be a ground because the right and left headlamps use different grounds. the forward lamp harness is
in the left rear side of the engine compartment, near the underhood fuse-relay center, mounted on the fender, you can check this connector for power from the dimmer switch also. this is a 12 pin connector and terminal F should be a tan wire. good luck

Re: 1996 2wd no drl's or low beams

well good news i found it.
I could care less about the drl's but i now have low beams.

Heres what i found: The tan wire coming out of the multifunction switch ( 10 wires in this particular harness) had shorted out against a black wire (ground) it melted the tan wire and also melted the harness. this tan wire had corroded to the point it was in two pieces. i jumped the pin from the switch to the wire and i had low beams again!

I used 2 wires with the same size spade connector that was in the harness. i just cut the harness so i could slide the wires on the pins, butt connected them to the wires coming into the harness and here we are!

Best part........ The 2 wires with spade connectors came out of an old washer! didnt cost me anything.
