What exactly is corner balancing?

I need to get a book on Suspension. I think it was jackassi that told me about a good one to get. I'll have to check the records. Anyways, what the hell is corner weighting? Thanks,
Nobu

Well it's basically taking the combined weight of say the front right and the rear left, and making it even with the weight of the front left and rear right. You weight by combining diagonal corners. For best measure and best results, you always corner weight with you IN the car and like a half tank of gas. I know friends that got their rides corner weighted and to show how sensative it is, if you drive your car doing an "gangster lean" in your seat, that adds about 30 pounds to that side of the car. No joke!

Re: What exactly is corner balancing?

Thanks. I just looked it up on the ground control website, and they said exactly the same thing. How do you shift the weight though? that "gangster lean" shit is funny. I see people doing that all the time. I get teased by my bro cuz I sit so upright and close to the pedals, but it's comfy to me, and I can heel-and-toe better. I just think it's funny people want to look soooo coool in their Civics and shit. I mean, you want to look cool? Whoop something gangster like Cheesefrog did in that vid w/ the Vipe. Then again, cool is like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. Thanks again,

Nobu

So very true. Your seating position is actually most ideal, esp. for racing like with auto-X.

Re: What exactly is corner balancing?

Personally I don't see why people sit like that. Maybe I'm getting old (turning 32 in March). When you sit crooked you are not using your arms efficiently to turn the car, plus you cannot see the road very well. I look like an old man since I sit up I remember though when I was 6-8 year younger I had the seat pushed all the way back and my seat REALLY reclined cause it felt comfortable.

Corner weight is done by two ways: 1) if you have coilovers you raise and lower the corresponding coils to add or subtract weight at specific corners, or 2) add weight to corners to get a better 50/50 cross weight.

Ideally you want to go with #1. I got my car corner weighed about 5 times this year due to me trying out different settings. Also when you get corner weighed you want to of course fix the toe and camebr.
