Houston-area (Texas) AF Members

Just wondering how many Houston-area (and southeast Texas) AF Car Modeling members there are out there. I recall there were a few of us. There used to be a line under the avatar with everyone's location, but I think it all got cleared out after they put in the 2nd server awhile back. Let's hear from you. Maybe we could all get together and throw back a few cold ones (assuming your 21+) and talk cars/models/etc.

Baton Rouge, LA but I have a few friends and a sister that live in Houston. Perhaps I'll give a ringy-dingy if I head out that way?

Cool. Quite a few of us. I'm on the west side, near Katy. Looks like we're all scattered. That's the big metro area for you.

Baytown. Used to go to HRP quite often. Haven't been there in awhile though.

Yamato. I haven't been there in years. Too pricey.

I spend my hobby dollars at Hobby Island and I&I (G&G, H&H, or whatever they are called now. They change their name so often.) Where do you guys go?

Let's here from more Houstonians. I'll make note of the names and PM everyone, see when we can all gather.

Re: Houston-area (Texas) AF Members

Move to southwest of Houston two months ago. Just a few blocks west of Beltway 8.

No, it's more like Sam Houston Pkwy and Westheimer, and I work near Sam Houston and Hwy 59.

Is there any model car club in Houston area?

The only one that I know of is the Houston Area Modelers Society (HAMS). They were meeting at I and I or whatever it is over on Chimney Rock in Bellaire behind the Eckerds on Bellaire Blvd. I dont know about now. Maybe this weekend I can get over to that one and the one off Richmond (Hobby Island) and find out some information.

Re: Houston-area (Texas) AF Members

There is an IPMS Houston division. The guy from Hobby Island (Mike?) told me about it, but it's like 90% military. Either way, it doesn't seem to be well-organized or anything. Their website has been under construction for forever. In terms of shows/meets in Houston, I think there was one in all of 2003, and it was all military.

Hey Guys!

I dont live in Houston, I am a bit far North of your guys. I live in Wylie, Tx which is a small town just North East of Dallas.
I belong to a group up here called the MCMA or Metroplex Car Modelers Association. We just did a road trip to Houston in November to a local car modeling group down there.
The groups name is the Houston Auto Modelers Society, you can contact them by emailing John Hougham at [email protected].
They are a small group but have a lot of talent. They need guys in there that make some Tuners thats for sure! I was pretty much the only one that showed up with Tuners at their contest!

Hope to see you guys at the Austin contest coming up soon!

Scott
