Question on 2002 745i purchase

I'm thinking of buying a 2002 745i from a local dealer. He says the car was part of the "buyback" program and has been "fixed." This car comes with the last 2 yrs dealer warranty and the bmw additional 2 yr used car warrenty. They want about $58K for the car. Is this a good deal or are the 2002's bad news? Thanks.

I wouldn't hesitate. I'm having a blast with mine. 2002 with 19K. I paid 58K but got it from a dealer that I've delt with before. You could do better if you shop. They look like they go for considerably less 4K on eBay if you feel comfortable buying bu auction. GREAT CAR!

Thanks. Since I first posted the price has dropped to 55,900. I'm going to testdrive it again Friday. I'll check ebay prices before I go.

OK, I test drove two 2002 745i's yesterday. It was a windy day and the wind noise through the sunroof was unbelievable. It happened on both cars. This never happens on my mercedes. The salesman tried to blow it off, saying that the seals may be dirty and he'd have it checked out next week when the shop re-opens. The car did have great pick-up and drove well. The gear shift was kinda weird and I was never quite sure I was in gear or not until I stepped on the gas. The dealer wants $55,900 for the car with 20K miles, comfort seats, upgraded sound system, and bmw certified used car warranty. They are selling new 745i's in the mid/high-60's, so a 2 yr old car with a 4 yr warranty is about $10K off a new one. I'm still not sure about all the problems I've heard with the 2002's. Any opinions????
