Question 2002 Silhouette purchase

Im looking at purchasing a 02 GLS from a friend and was wonder peoples impressions as to if it would be a good deal at 12K Cdn. The van has almost 200k of all Hwy kilometers and was very well maintained. It is loaded with leather and all the goodies. Any concerns about reliability?

Re: 2002 Silhouette purchase

Take my advice and all of the advice you get on the internet with a grain of salt. My 2002 Silhouette has been excellent. You know the person that owns the van which is a big advantage over someone just buying used and not knowing how the vehicle was treated.

I can't tell you if you are getting a good deal, only you can decide that. All vehicles have problems, check out Honda, Toyota's and see for yourself.

Re: 2002 Silhouette purchase

Hello.I would not buy this van.I have a Consumer Reports magazene,And the Olds,Pontiac, and Chevrolet mini vans are the ones to avoid buying used.I had an Olds van.I liked the fuel mileage, and the fact that you could haul alot of stuff with it.But when the intake gasket went, thats when I sold it.They are difficult to repair, and I did not feel like working on it.I have no garage, and live in a cold climate(Michigan).Other than that,go ahead and buy it.Maby you can get a couple of years use out of it.But when you start to have major engine/transmisson problems,be prepaired to spend alot of money to have a shop do the work,Or take a couple of weeks vacation away from work to do the repairs yourself.Good luck, and have a good day!!
