Changing Brake lights, need help

This is my first post and I realize that I am not as mechanically inclined as I thought. My wife has a brake light out on the passenger side. I thought this would be a trivial event to change the bulb. I realized after 20 minutes of fiddling and prying that I have no idea how to get access to the bulbs in the tail light assembly. Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks

I believe there are 3 bolts that have to be removed to remove the whole assembly. You will need a deep well socket (i forget what size).

I removed the 2 phillips screws exposed on the assembly when the rear hatch is opened, but have not seen any other fasteners that could be removed. Is removing the interior panel required to see the correct hardware for removing the lense for installing a bulb? I never thought a bulb change could turn into a project like this. I will look under the car and see if there is access to any fasteners I have not seen yet.

Thanks

I do not have a wagon but yes, there is the cover material over the light assembly. On mine there were some pop out type fasteners I had to remove to get at the actual bolts. To remove my tail light assembly I had to remove 3 nuts on long bolts to remove the whole deal. I am not familiar with the wagon, sorry.

Taurus wagon only

there are two screws. The other point is held by a snap connector. Pry under the end of the lens/light assembly facing the front of the car. Be careful not to scratch the paint. IT is easier if you lift the back of the assemmbly out a little bit.
