Finally! Some pics of my rx7 R1!!!

Wow, what a long wait. Dad finally came with a digi cam (and i have nfi how to work it properly). So anyway I'll give a quick rundown on why the model looks so crap in the pics (it actually looks nothing like it in real life)...

Well I got up this morning thinking "Nice, ill finally get to polish my car". Oh how I was wrong! So I started compounding everything piece by piece, 3 or even 4 times. It all appeared alright, until i started scrubbing off the dried compound. On closer inspection, I saw small scratches along the roof and hood. It must have been that darn polishing cloth. (NEVER EVER LISTEN TO YOUR MUM WHEN SHE TRIES TO HELP YOU!!!). So okay, I was gonna go to one of the LHS and get the waxing kit by tamiya. Oh, i was wrong again. Not only have they never heard of the kit before (which came to a suprise considering their size and business), they dont even have FINE POLISHING cloths. Okay so now ill have to place an order with HLJ for some supplies...

Anyway, the pics dont do the car justice. The orange peel is nowhere near as bad (I can barely see it with my own eyes, and i have very good vision). Also, this is my first model, and I had to strip the car twice and spray it twice (including a dodgy sand-down because i lost patience). It's about 95% done (have to glue on the wing, and lenses etc, but they are all painted).
I hope to get some outdoor shots, so maybe then the black colour will look better. It looked a lot better without the compounding, so in future i might only spray the colour and then a few coats of clear and thats it...

Anyway, enough chit chat, here are the pics!

try to ignore the dust :P

And here is the in-progress celica gt-four

and a pic of my work-bench. it sucks big time!

Not looking to bad for your first model. Still a bit of orange peel there but it looks like you are will on your way to improving your skills.
Keep up the good work.

Looks good! Black is especially hard to make look good because it shows imperfections a lot more than other colors. Your paint is hella better than my first was, and probably better some of my latest builds... Looks really good, hopefully you can hold onto the camera until your done with the RX-7 and the celica, too.

thanks for the comments guys :P
I really appreciate it! Well, dad is leaving again quite soon (like a week, so i might get pics of the car fully painted), but it doesnt really matter. My friend has a spare camera that he can give me... he is just very forgetful and never brings it :P

hehe, its a 2003 WRX calender I got from my parents for christmas last year. It features modded up cars etc, including a wrx cop car, and some award winning cars such as the freddo wrx. also, it has a very nice example of a STi sedan :P

OMG IT IS AMAZING WHAT GOOD PICTURES CAN DO TO YOUR CAR! lol, I just took these photos before and DAIIIMN! Btw, the rear window doesnt fit properly as you can see in one of the pictures, it hangs over the roofline. Has anyone else had this problem? Oh, and ignore the wing, its not glued on yet :P

here is a shot of the unfinished interior of the gt-four. I had a huge smile on my face when i got the right seat without any brushmarks (still needs a second coat at some points, but im happy now!)

Re: Re: Finally! Some pics of my rx7 R1!!!

looks cool, for stock. I think it needs a custom muffler, I'd send ya one, but it'd get lost in the mail like those 4 rims I sent to that dude for the eclipse and all kinds of other decals.

Re: Finally! Some pics of my rx7 R1!!!

hm, yeh... the stock peashooters it came with were shocking! I used plastic straws to improvise! Hey, if you want to send me a muffler, please go ahead! My R34 would greatly appreciate it :P
And bugger about the rims... Which reminds me, I gotta get some decent looking male rims for the GT-Four. You wouldn't believe how shite the three spokes look!

Re: Re: Finally! Some pics of my rx7 R1!!!

I'll send ya 2 of them. They'll be unpainted however, but I figure you can take care of that. Just give me about 2 weeks to get things together, I bet the post office is going to be packed after christmas. Don't ask why, it just always is. Anyway, pm me with you full addy, and I'll have them out to ya.
