Upgrading Intake Manifold on 1986 3.8 engine
I would like to Know if this swap is posible with work. In the Junk yards I see that the 1st Version 3800 in 1991 uses a tuned port manifold that looks as if it would help the the low rpm performance of my 3.8 thats in my car .Does anyone know if the tuned port manifold would bolt to my heads/Block ? I have not checked out the EGR plumming yet but that needs to be retained also.
On a second note are there any modes that are available for my 3.8 l engine.I have not seen any chips for this engine and timming is fixed on crank. Short of taking off the Balancer and moving the timing tabs it ,dont look easy. Thanks for listening. Most every page Ive seen on buicks there Turbos on it Fred |

1991 should still be a gen1 3800, but as for intake manifold.....I'm thinking no, and you really dont want Tuned port...The older series ones were the best 3800's definately more reliable. Take your engine to a machine shop(a good one) and see if they can help you get more performance out of it.
