Boston Hobbyshops?

I'm going to Boston for a couple weeks after Christmas, and I figure there are at least a few nice shops in a city that big. So I was wondering if anyone was from around there that could tell me about any espescially well-stocked or otherwise pleasant shops in the area. I'll really be in Waltham, which is kinda east of Boston near Hanscom AFB (on 95 near bedford, 5 mi. north of the mass. turnpike or so), in case that makes any sort of difference or not.

The Best hobby shop I've found in the Boston area is The Spare Time Hobby Shop located in Marlboro, MA. (about an hour from Waltham.)

Other than that, they are pretty spread out among the region and it's really hit or miss. Best to look in the local phone book . . . GOOD Hobby shops a scarce up here . . .

Re: Boston Hobbyshops?

I agree with Lambo003, there are only a few good shops in the area. The Spare Time Shop has a good selection of cars and supplies. Better, IMHO, is Hobby Emporium. They're in Tyngsboro, MA just off Rte. 3, and about 40 minutes from Waltham. They have a bit more inventory and always seem to have a few items that I just don't see elsewhere.

In Lexington, which is next to Waltham, there is a Hobbytown. It's pretty sparse as far as car modeling goes, but it is close by. There is another Hobbytown in Bellingham, MA which is better, but I would only stop by if I was in their vicinity since both the Spare Time Shop and Hobby Emporium are better and closer.

Finally, if your interests also run to die-cast, there is a great Exoticar outlet shop next to their warehouse in Avon, MA. They have a very extensive variety of product.

Good luck and enjoy your time in the Boston area.
