idling but mine idled itself and won't come down

my car has a mind of its own last night i pulled into my garage and cut my car off.i had to take my sister to a party so when i started up the car it idled up to 8 now usually i could hit the gas a little and it would idle down to 1 but it will not. so is there anyone out there that can tell me how to idle my car back down?

buy a new idling pump i broke mine it cost me 120 bucks. or if you have a throttle body u instalation was faulty

Can you list any mods or recent stuff that was done to the car. Might help a little bit. I know there was a problem on the 87-93 fox's with the 10 pin connector which cause a simluar problem, not sure if it was fixed for the 94-95 models years.

are you saying your car idled at 8,000 rpms? if it was a typo or you read it wrong it may be your tps. what year is the car? what engine is in it? i know the tps on my truck messed up '90 f-150 efi and i just had to pull the throttle body and reset the throttle position sensor. if it continuous to ''high idle'' you may want to look into your iac. or just simply cleaning your throttle body out may do the trick. carbon buildup can cause it to hang open, as well as mess with the iac in that there is a little tunnel like vacuum shoot in back of the throttle body that leads to the iac and it could be clogged. this acts like a vacuum leak only you wont find it with soapy water. to save $$$ get a can of carb cleaner and an old tooth bruch and scrub out your throttle body. lemme know if i have helped any or if i can help more.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the factory rev limit on a 5 liter Mustang is 6250, so 8000 sounds fishy. I'm not sure about the modular motors, anyone esle know?

u wouldnt happen to know the 281(4.6L) would you or do you consider that the modular motor

I've heard of it a time or two, hell one time at the local dragstrip on Friday test and tune one even lined up beside me, he ran a 14.27, I ran a 11.44, I was not impressed and was just plain pissed off after I helped my buddy put an s-trim Vortech on his 02 GT. They are a pain in the ass to work on but there's also alot of potential. The 32 valve version is a whole different beast, and it responds even better to forced induction, need I even mention the 03. Came a long way since 96.
