Evo 8's Turbo?

Hey friends...i was just in school in today and was thinking. Is the Turbo in the Evo 8 the same as the other Eclipse/Talon AWD's? OR is the engine in the Evo just a bit more modified? just confused there...thanks...

I believe it is a B16g sized turbo. I think overseas where they get the 'real' EVO's (more power/wicked AWD systems, available stripped models) it also has titanium turbine blades or some other exotic material. The engine is a 7-bolt with hollow cams, forged internals-I think the C/R is 8.8:1 and its pushing 19lbs through a front mount from the factory.

Re: Evo 8's Turbo?

the evo 8 turbo's are reverse scroll turbo's meaning they spin in the opposite direction as most turbo's. It could be done, but it would not be worth it.

It's a twin-scroll turbo, which means the turbo's exhaust inlet is split into two seperate inlets which spools the turbo faster/more responsive by means of the firing order/exhaust pulses of the engine. So the 4-exhaust manifold runners pulse into the two seperate inlets on the turbine, or something like that
And comparing the EVO 4G63 to the DSM 4G63 it has a lighter valvetrain, made to rev quicker/more responsive, and it has forged rods/pistons- what you do to a DSM motor when you want serious reliable power out of it(20g+, 350+). The 2JZ has forged rods from the factory and is naturally well balanced as it is an inline 6, but are the pistons forged?
