Exhaust issues

I was at the shop today, and saw an Apexi Dunk Series muffler there, it's application states for a non turbo eclipse from 95-99. It's got a 2 1/4 in let with a 2 1/4 outlet. Should I buy it and custome fit it to the oz lancer 2002 U.S. spec I've got? The oz exhaust has two mufflers in its flow from the catelitic back, so if i strip the stock exhaust from the cat, and run strait pipe to the apexi, will i see some power gain?

I wouldnt see a problem with that, as long as you still retained the same amount of back presure. I would consort with a Exhust Professional and see if he would recommend it. He probley will try to sell you something else, but at any rate, with the setup your looking at, you should seem to see some increase in horsepower if your running a larger pipe from the cat to the muffler. should make a pretty nice sound if i do say so.

Exhaust issue.

I agree, we are limited in recources here, so I have called around and checked the stuff out, the pipe on the stock exhaust is 2 inches, the pro told me to increase about a half an inch to a 2 1/2, whitch i can do, so I thought it would be good.

yeah, any larger and your going to have to rely on heavier bushings, and i would hate to say it but a larger cat. 2 ½ sounds good, just hope you can get around that 2nd muffler issue, never new that information.

i replaced mine with 1 1/2 pipe from the cat back to the ractive muffler(its the only thing the shops sell around here besides areospeed). it sounds good but i am hoping when i add the TC that it will get quite louder. as for the extra muffler its a resonator (sp) it can be done away with it is only to reduce noise. i left mine on when i first put on y muffler but then i took it off after a week.

RMR products

What about the RMR High-Flow Exhaust system? Is that a good deal? I saw it at http://www.rmrproducts.com Its made of Stainless Steel and its suppose to give you more high-end horses. The dealership installs it for you I think..... does anyone have any more info about this system?

i wouldnt get the RAR Exhust, there is better exhust out there. i would get the intake maybe unless they make the Dragon Xt intake. I would instead of having exhust that gave high end power, aquire a exhust that gave low end power and bottom end torque. Thats where you really want the power, everything after the start is just low end, you dont want power right before you shift.

Rmr products

Been there, seen that, got the t-shirt. The rmr exhaust is used by Rhys in his conquest for the U.S. Rally championship, they do spend time testing there exhausts, so it probably is a winner, but, your right, there are more exhaust out there, you got your bangers, you got your smokers, you got your flame throwers, you got your throaties, you got your ricers, etc. etc. So find an exhaust you like, I have put severel exhaust on cars I've owned, check um out, read the specs, thats the only way I have found out what exhausts are good. Then if you find one you like, tell us. Dipp's(j-k) right. You probably want low to mid power gain. And as for the intake, I'm still lookin, you could always make one yourself. A hybrid, find one and customize.

exhaust

So, when doing the whole kit-n-kaboodle, should I just put a cat back system on, or should I go from the collecter,(or header, or whatever they call the stock manifold)? Strait pipe, or high flow cat?
Just some questions. Which way sees the best HP gains?

Well once you get new headers, they just connect up to the cat, so a nice high flow cat would be best.
