Alright, this may seem a bit convoluted, but PLEASE bear with me- Some of you may remember the post I made about a month back concerning the eventual replacement of my midpipe (it had developed a split coming out of the resonator, requiring the entire pipe to be replaced) I was trying to decide what I was going to do- just have a new pipe installed (anyone have an idea about the cost of the OEM replacement midpipe?, I recieved an estimate from VIP Auto for roughly $65, but I think the guy was just winging it based on the price for the DX/LX's pipe, which is a different design, compared with MY mechanic, who says that the pipe goes for more like $140, mostly due to the flexing section of the pipe- that little braided looking canister part after the resonators)
Or option number 2- what do you guys think of something like this -->

I notice that these performance models have a resonator, but lack the flexing section, is this important?
The situation has become rather urgent at this point, since, after using some of that "cold weld" type patch material on the offending split, the end of the midpipe suddenly, for a reason unknown to me, broke loose from the gasket where it meets up with the axle pipe. Probably because the now patched split had been venting most of the hot gases, and because of our @$#%#!! below zero weather lately, a lot of constricting and expanding took place on an already weak area? Hopefully I can patch THAT together as well, but it will be incredibly temporary. To top it all off, I'm 2 MONTHS past inspection because of a lack of funds needed to pass (I needed brake work as well), which garnered me a $43 ticket... ARGGHHH!!! I CAN'T DO THIS ON A COLLEGE STUDENT'S SALARY!!! And I already owe my parents $250 for the above mentioned brake job work I had done Monday in anticipation of passing inspection, (before this second pipe break happened)
Somebody shoot me
