Sebring Keyless Remote Programing

I purchased an extra keyless remote for my 97 sebring convertible on e-bay. Does anyone out there have instructions on how to program this remote to my car? Thanks

1995 - 1998 (FJ) Avenger/Sebring/Talon Remote Programming

1995 - 1998 (FJ) Avenger/Sebring/Talon

Manual Programming Procedure (non scan tool)
1. Connect pin 1 of the 16-way data link connector to chassis ground or to pin 4 of
the 16-way data link connector.
2. Close all doors, turn ignition key to off.
3. Turn ignition key to Accessory.

4. Turn ignition key to off, door locks will cycle once (in programming mode).
5. For each key FOB, press any button 3 times in a row to program code. When
programming is complete, the door locks will cycle once.

NOTE:
IF A SECOND KEY FOB REQUIRES PROGRAMMING, IT MUST BE PROGRAMMED WITHIN 1 MINUTE OF
THE FIRST FOB PROGRAMMING. PRESS ANY BUTTON ON THE SECOND FOB 3 TIMES TO PROGRAM
ITS CODE. WHEN PROGRAMMING IS COMPLETE, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL CYCLE ONCE.

6. The programming mode finishes after the following:
a. Programming of two key FOBS is completed.
b. One minute has passed since programming.
c. Pin 1 of 16-way data link connector is removed from ground connection.
d. Ignition switch is turned on.
e. Any of the doors are opened.

If I am not mistaken this procedure is for the FJ body (coupe), which differs from the JX body (convertible)

The difference is the FJ Sebring coupe & Avenger are products based on the Mitsubishi galant. They utilize a completely different body control module. The remotes are also different, somebody I know has a Sebring coupe and they are totally different.

Some of the other differences are engine management (164 HP vs 168 on 2.5) different a/c, abs, interior, exhaust, power steering, just to name a few.

There appears to be no pin one on the JX body Diagnostic link connector so I do not think that this procedure is the one that is being seeked.

I myself have recently acquired 2 replacement remotes & am unable to program using this procedure.

Does anybody else have the JX Sebring Convert. -JA Cirrus/stratus procedure?

Re: 1995 - 1998 (FJ) Avenger/Sebring/Talon Remote Programming

Can anyone tell me if this procedure will work for a 2000 Sebring? I recently bought a remote via internet to replace the original which was lost.
