Upper limits of the SRT-4

Does anyone know how much power you can squeeze out of a SRT without blowing the block?? I know that some of the jap 4 bangers like the 4g-63 have gone over 700hp on pump gas, but can the neon match that kind of power in street trim?

If i'm not mistaken, don't the NHRA Summit Racing series SRT-4 guys run the stock block? They're running, what, between 800-900 horsepower?

Yep! BUT, IIRC, the block is filled, as is usually the case with drag motors.

I'd be willing to bet that 700-800 hp is attainable with a stock block while keeping the coolant passages free. Who knows? At that level, much of the difference is in how well it was put together. Details are EVERYTHING.

I have heard rumors of a 1100hp SRT dragster, but those don't count because they don't have to run on street gas, and that is what I am interested in.
