Turbo Se-R or JDM Swap?

I'm planning to buy a 97' 200sx Se-R (or a GTI VR6), the SE-Rs only got 67K miles on it, so I'm not really wanting to take a perfectly good SR20DE out for the BB motor. Would it be a better plan just to buy it and get a turbo kit or is the BB motor a better starting point.

Re: Turbo Se-R or JDM Swap?

well ppl will tell you that the sr20de(ser engine) is just as good as the sr20det(bb). I would have to say um no sorry but the det model has a stonger bottum end and lower comprsion. The ser engine can only hold close to 300hp(this is with lots of work and mods) is done right but the BB can hold 400hp on stock inturnals with mods. I will be doing the BB swap soon but I have an se not a ser so its up to you.
