Question newbie questions

Hello everybody,
I am new to this forum. I have just a couple of questions.
I am thinking about building a motor based on a kenne bell supercharger. I know the new cobras with the kenne bell have already exceeded 600 rwhp with just 281ci. What i want to know is what would a 351w,383w or a 408w make with a kenne bell at max boost??? The motor would be built to handle pressure. I just want an idea of some numbers. Or would a whipple supercharged 460 be possible?

If anybody could answer it would be of great help to me.

Thank you

Brandon

Re: newbie questions

A 460 with a blower would be like killing flies with a hammer, a little unnecessary. It would take an all out race car just to put all that power to the pavement. But I like the way you think. A 347 with a little boost will be more that enough to embarass 98% of the imports you should come across on the street. Check out my ride under "11 second GT" and in the gallery. I'm pushing about 500hp and no rice rocket has even given me a close race. Do you smell burnt rice?

Re: newbie questions

First of all thank you for your reply. With cool people like yourself, I think i found a favorite forum :-). I was just thinking a fuel-injected Whipple-supercharged 460 big block in a Mustang would be cool. What is about the most people have made with a Kenne Bell???

P.S. your right rice burners suck

You can not build a motor around a super charger. It can be in your plans so the mods that you place should be able to handle what ever boost you are going to run. A 351W with a blower is going to pretty much beat any car u gogin to meet on the street. Depends if you are looking to do drag racing or not. There is an 03 cobra at the shop i go to for my mustang mods, he is pushing close to 550. All depends on what you want, a 400+ with a blower is insane, and if you decide on that def. want to be kept up to date with how it going.

Re: newbie questions

lol i guess im a ricer that drives a rice burner. but neways i like the 351 setup. it seems popular. but u could still make 600rwhp from the SOHC 281c depending on wat setup u go w. u dont nessecarily have to get a crate motor or a bigger displacement engine.

Re: newbie questions

What i meant by rice burners suck is that cars like Honda Accords, and Civics. Cars like the WRX i have respect for because they have very good motors, and make very good horse power. One Japanese car i have an interest in is a Toyota Supra. That is a totally awesome car. I dont consider it a rice burner, I consider it an exotic up there with Ferrari's. I have seen websites where guys get 800 to 900 plus rwhp. I am not completely narrow-minded. lol

Speaking of Honda's... Honda is now building jet engines, and have just test flown their new corporate jet. Betchu guys didn't know THAT one! If you want I'll dig up the link.

Um, I disagree with a previous statement. You CAN build an engine around a power adder, be it turbo, nitrous, supercharger I.E. you want to use a forged bottom end, At least a Sportsman block if building a windsor or R block 5.0. and you don't want high-compression pistons. Also different intake manifolds and camshafts work differently with different setups.

If your combination is for twin-screws, I'd run a 351 windsor, possibly stroked to over 380 CI, Definitely a good set of JE pistons and Eagle H-beam rods, forged crank w/a main support, Your choice of heads (AFR 185s?) and a camshaft ground with supercharging in mind giving a lot of low-end torque. (Call Anderson Ford Motorsport they should know what you'd need). That would more than likely be a torquey monster of a smallblock, and built/tuned properly 600 HP would not be out of the question.

Re: newbie questions

i think its fucked up how parrish5o bases his life around beating "ricers"...just so you know there are other cars out there, for instance OTHER MUSTANGS. to build a car just to beat a civic is, in my opinion, the stupidist thing ever.

Good Grief! It's now just a matter of time before someone posts a claim that they know a "friend" who swapped it into a Civic hatchback.
F.Y.I. someone has posted in the Honda forum that they saw a Honda Accord with a Ferrari V-10 engine getting new lightbulbs at the Pep Boys.

First of all opinions are like assholes....everybody has one.Although yours seems to stink worse than others. So due to your ingorance I will "set the record straingt". I did not build my car to beat Civics, only a dumbass would think you needed to. How many Civics do you come across that will run with even a stock Mustang?
Second, I don't base my life on beating "ricers", or anyone else for that matter. I built my car because "I" wanted to. "I" like fast cars. "I" don't give a rats ass about beating imports. When I built my first motor for this car a fast 4banger was unheard of, before Fast and Furious. Some of us have been around for awhile. I don't even street race anymore unless someone just has to try and be a badass. Don't get me wrong, I've done my share of racing on the street, but I'm alot older and wiser now and I like my cheap insurance. Take it to the track every once and awhile just for the hell of it but I stay away from the local street racers. It pisses all of them off but I don't really care. Every day I run it through 3rd or 4th gear at least once but out of town, on a backroad, by myself. I love to feel pressed into the seat, the harder the better. The feeling is so addictive, better than any drug. This is why I built my car.
Third, I know there are other cars out there. There are other cars in my driveway. I also own a mint condition 1989 IROC Camaro. I recently sold my "ricer" a 1989 TSI Conquest. My dad owns a 1966 Vette. I was raised building Chevelles, Camaros, and Novas. So come on SIKCRX you can't really be that stupid, can you? Just try to may more attention next time, and maybe you'll know whats going on.
