B16 swap questions...

I've read lots of FAQs and many many sites of people that swap these engines into the 4th gen. My D15 has died last week, and I'm thinking about going with one of these bad boys to replace it. How hard are they really to put in? Something an import n00b can do? I've replaced engines in many cars before (Nova, Cougar, Blazer) but nothing that requires me to wire up any electronics. Any tips?

Also, is it worth it to move over to a B16 compared to just purchasing a newer Civic?

Re: B16 swap questions...

I should probably mention that if I do go the B16 route, Hasport will be in my future.

Re: B16 swap questions...

You should be able to handle the swap no problem.

As far as worth it compared to a newer Civic, my B16 has made me desire keeping the car for a long time. Hopefully the body agrees with me. Anyway, its a blast to drive.
Consider getting an S1 transmission.

Re: B16 swap questions...

Ok, I think this is where I'm confusing myself. Y1, S1, Si, WTF, DX.... So confusing for me.

Also, what cars are these coming out of? Integra, Civic SiR? What do I tell the guy at the autoparts store when I need a headgasket?

Re: B16 swap questions...

Well, Y1 and S1 are trannys.

Si and DX are different models of civic/crx.

And the head gasket, i'd say just get one for a DelSol Vtec or 99-01 Si, but I have a feeling they might not be right, due to those motors have differnt compression ratio's, but im not sure.

Internally and externally B16As from all generations are pretty much exactly the same.

The motor will be comming from a CRX/Civic SiR, or an Integra XSi.
