Finishing Tamyia Gold : how ?

Hello,

I've just painted a body with Tamiya Gold.
After the first coat, I sanded it and remarked the paint becomes darker.
Then I put a few other mist coats and now the wet coat.

There is a small dust particle on the hood. How can I get it away ?

And what to do to finish this body : has anyone already tried the Tamiya compound on this colour ?

Please tell me what to do and what NOT to do.

Thx

I just finished a model with tamiya gold and had a problem with dust too. Once you've sanded it down it takes quite a few coats to get the finish consistant again but mine was fine after that. Maybe you have to look at where youre spraying your models, I sprayed mine in a different spot the second time and didnt get any dust in it. I put a couple of coats of tamiya clear on straight after the gold as this gives the gold a deeper finish there was a tiny bit of dust in the clear but that can be polished out when your finished. Im going to polish this with tamiya compound once the painted hardened enough, Ill let you know how it goes when its done

Thanks for your reply but I would like to know if there is a possibility to remove that dust particle without respraying : this model has already received a number of coats (& 2 wet ones) and I'm afraid the thickness (in the panel lines for example) will be too much if I must spray another wet coat.

Depends on how big the dust paticle is and in which coat it has been incrusted.

For example; while spraying a model with alu paint, I had a smallish paticle on the hood during the wet coat, and just took a 1500 grit, wetsanded the little bugger out, and just sprayed over it with clear, as over the rest of the body, if you don't rub the paint too hard while sanding it, the colour difference won't show after clearcoating.

Or if the paticle is too big, you just might have to put another coat of paint over it , then do spłe clear over it .
