Installing RF Amp Kit--need help
So far all I have done is run RCA's. Im really cautious so I'm just going to list the parts of the kit and you guys tell me where they go and how to do it. im assuming all of these.
Black Wire- Ground (to neg terminal and/or frame?) Red Wire- To pos. terminal. (do I just drill through the firewall?) Blue wire- Antenna/amp lead(amp turn on, can i cut the deck's connector off and just twist the amp lead to it?) any suggestions on placement or anything else would help alot. or if i have forgotten anything.

You're correct on what all the wires are. With the ground, you want to try and keep it as short as possible in distance. You should put it around a bolt or something that connects with bare metal. Seat Belt Bolts work really well for this; they're hidden and provide good contact. The red power wire should be run to the positive terminal of your battery. If you can't find an unused hole big enough, you'll have to drill. Make sure you check both sides of the area you're drilling to make sure you don't hit anything. Get some silicone sealant and put it around the wire once you have it run to seal out air and moisture from getting into your interior. For my remote line (the blue one) I just soldered in into the same place where I soldered the lines from the head unit and wiring harness. Hope this helps!

Can I just buy an Optima battery, put it in my trunk, and hook my amp to it.

Re: Installing RF Amp Kit--need help
yes, but you'll still have to run a 0/1ga wire connecting the + terminals of your batteries, which means you still have to route the power cable, still have to go through the firewall, etc. Just this time you'd be doing it with bigger wire, making things harder.

Re: Installing RF Amp Kit--need help
As long as the antenna lead doesn't turn on anything else in the car that would be fine.

Why not just run the power cable in through the wire guide in the door hinge area and into the car...under the trim and all. Thats what my bro did and you cant see the cable anywhere but when you open the door and it sticks out of the little black rubber wire housing.

hold on maybe i wasnt clear enough. all im doing is cutting off the metal peice that crimps the wire. twisting the wires together instead of actually plugging them together like there supposed to has the same effect as making metal to metal contact beween 2 connectors. think of regular car speakers and how they have a crimped wire with the metal tab that slots onto the speaker tab.
