There's a good description of supercharger vs. turbo in the articles section of this forum. Its under articles/technical. It all comes down to preference.

FWD cars should use a turbo.... it yields a higher max output over a supercharger. Superchargers give more power down low, but with FWD you're going to have spin issues anyway.

Re: turbo??????
turbo's have more power tunning capabilities than supercharger, and s/c take away more power from the engine than turbos' do. like GMforlife said, under 'car in general' and then 'forced induction' there are some good posts on super vs. turbo-check it out-shop around and learn lots.

Re: turbo??????
i would first get a new motor. the 2200 is crap, get a 2.4 quad that was in the z24, or you can go with an ecotech if you want too. Id get a 2.4 from a later year jbody that doesnt have the EGR valve since those motors are easier to modify since they dont have the annoing EGR valve. With that motor it would be easier to do things like an HO manifold swap among other things.

Re: turbo??????
Wouldn't a turbo be better in ATX than in a MTX because turbo uses back pressure to spool?!

Re: turbo??????
Whats ATX and MTX? But no a turbo uses velocity not backpressure. Back preassure is the Devil for turbos.

Re: turbo??????
Well if you have a waste gate on your turbo, which you should then it will not matter if it is a Manual transaxle or and Auto. When you shift it will blow off the excess pressure it build up.
