Quick engine application question

Hey guys,

I got a '86 944 NA i just picked up and it needs an engine. This is not the same engine in the '83-'85 cars is it? Are they old style car motors interchangeable with the new style body?

Thanks.

Re: Quick engine application question

The engines are basically the same. there are a couple of issues-one being different coolant temp sensors. Second use all the origanal injection that goes with the car.

Re: Quick engine application question

with the sensors, can i just take them off the old motor?

anything else that prevents me from putting the older motor in the newer car? is there a power difference or any advantages to using the newer motor?

anybody know where to get a motor for relatively cheap? I've been looking on ebay, but not finding much.

Thanks!

Re: Quick engine application question

Is the block the same from '83 to '87? What I'm getting at is can I buy a block from an '83-'85 car and use my '86 head on it?

Anybody got any good links that can answer my questions? Thanks.

Re: Quick engine application question

yup-the head will fit just fine-the sensor holes are different sizes in the block-just drill it out or use an adapter
