hi, i have a 1995 taurus gl. i got it for $3200 about 2 years ago. during all this time, it has been very dependable car. but, for last six months, it starting to have a little bit of problem. it has 133342 miles on it. whenever it rains, the engine starts making wierd noises. sometimes when i accelarate the engine makes noise like fullthrottle accelaration and the car does not give me the output of the accelaration. but after 3 to 5 seconds, it accelarates very quickly. i told my dad about this but he said that it is just the rain. i do not believe him. i will really appericiate your help.

Re: tranmission or something eles
well, we have a 93 tauras and for a long time when it was damp out or rained it ran like crap my husband replaced the spark plug wires and it stopped, seems the wires are ever so touchy, we had the wrong set on at first still acted, up we took them back and got a different set and it cleared up, we foun out that wires and plugs can sometimes go bad real early, save your receipts and try a tune up.

I agree try a tune-up (spark plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor if required)and then run the car as described in the manual to reset the computer. I think 30 miles, 20 highway followed by 10 city.

I would also suggest checking the Serpentine belt. If this is not in good condition, it might be the culprit.
