f'ed up STD headers

I've got a 91 STD, and i was looking a the manual for my car, when i came to the exhaust system part i realised that they for some reason made the CANDIEN STD different than all the rest! why would they do this?

i was wondering though if i would be able to completely swap out this exhaust(headers, pipes, cat converter, tip) and put in one from some aftermarket system? i looks like all the holes line up and everything but is it going to fit around the engine and stuff like that?

and if someone can come up with a reason why they would make this model different than all the rest?

well...what exactly is different?

..if you relocate the cat.. you'll be fine to rework the exhuast system..just get an aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket cat or si/dx cat, and a header and you'll be set

Careful...my canadian made STD did not have a catalytic converter....AT ALL...plus the front pipe that comes out of the exhaust manifold is different than...I don't want to say all others, because I'm not sure...but it is different that "most" other.
The CDN STD had a very unique exhaust...

well for one this the STD headers are about half the size of all the others

then also right after the headers theres the cat(its vertical) with all the others theres a pipe then the cat located under the cat(its horizantal)

but after that its basically the same

i can post a scan from the manual when i get back home to show the difference visually

88 & 89 civic STD shares the HF style exhaust manifold and catalytic converter setup. in 90, they switched back over to the DX style with the 4-1 manifold and cat under the car.

Any exhaust setup will bolt right up to it, but for legality, you'll have to add a catalytic converter.

To my knowledge all "90" Civic HB's were built in Canada (Allison, Ontario plant).
I wonder why my STD never had a Cat. Conv.? Strange.
