Pronounciation.
What is the correct way of pronouncing it? I have heard all of these:
Murs-ee-a-loggo Murs-ae-a-loggo Murs-ee-a-lego Murs-ae-a-lego Merth-ee-a-loggo Merth-ae-a-loggo Merth-ee-a-leggo Merth-ae-a-leggo Murch-ee-a-loggo Murch-ae-a-loggo Murch-ee-a-lego Murch-ae-a-lego. |

The first one is correct. There is no th- or ch- sounds in the word.

Re: Pronounciation.
Car and Driver 12/2001
The Murciélago—pronounced "mercy-eh-lah-go"—continues the squat, low-slung, mid-engined supercar proportions of the previous car, but it lacks the dramatic touches, such as the prominent radiator air intakes and the unusual plunging side windows. And this in a car that carries the bloodlines of the flamboyant Miura and Countach, two cars that absolutely rocked the automotive world at their debuts in the Sixties and Seventies. R&T 5/2002 The afternoon sun must have been shining with extraordinary brilliance on October 5, 1879. A beautiful but ferocious bull named Murciélago (Mur-see-á-lah-go) entered the bullring in Cordoba, Spain, and was met by matador Rafael Molina, nicknamed Lagartijo, or "Lounge Lizard." And instead of delivering death during suerte suprema, the third and final stage of La Corrida, Molina chose not to plunge his sword into Murciélago's heart and spared the bull's life. A rare occurrence indeed, one that is reserved for a bull that has shown exceptional spirit and strength in the arena. I remember seeing the name someplace else and it was something like Merth-ee-a-leggo. aehaas |

being from a latin country, I can clearly state that Mercy and merth are clearly wrong... and as supercarman wrote, there are no 'ch's and 'th's also!! I would also choose the first option on tanner's list... but it is really hard trying to teach a non Latin to prounouce it the right way.. so please take a look at this old thread:

Re: Pronounciation.
I have seen so many reviews of the Murcielago on TV such as Top Gear and Fifith Gear etc. So far not a single motoring journalist has said the name like the way it is supposed to be pronounced.
