Have aneone had the same problems with Evo V?
So its Tamiya Evo V WRC, i just started it, and when i was applying the decals on the sits i found out that after i apply Micro Sol the edjes of the decal do not stick to the surface as usual after Micro Sol but start to "roll" (don't know how to explain in other words) So is it a problem of old Tamiya decals or a problem of my skills or what? It was OK with Evo VII and 2001GB and 2002 Imprezas.

Tamiya Evo VII doesn't have CF seat back decals does it?
Perhaps you left the decals in the water too long and the adhesive dissolved away? How did you go fixing it? Some PVA glue can be used to replace the decals adhesive if it loses it's 'stick'.

Hey, I get that problem too! I think a coat of clear may be the only way to solve it (after its too late). Otherwise, I just inspect my models here and there, and if I discover one peeling, then I just put some microsol on it.

with all my tamiya models, all the decals just used water... some fell off, but i reapplied them with minimal fuss...
i duno why you'd need microsol, but i also heard that tamiya decals are too fragile for microsol, and they'll just melt away into nothingness, on certain occasions.

many people have advised me to use micro set instead of micro sol. so, im gonna buy some on my next trip to the LHS.

2 RallyRaider: Yes, Evo VII dorst't have kevlar decals (who knows it better than you
 ) but i'am worried about all the decals, it isn't dramatic on the interior parts, but what if it happens with exterior decals, anyway i'll try to keep them in water not so long. PS I always use MICROSOl, it makes decals look "painted" and removes "silvering", till tomorrow it was always OK. PPS RallyRaider I wish to have your skills

Thanks for the compliment EvoVI, it sounds like you have heaps of skills too! You had a problem with the decals and solved it, modeling is often an exercise in damage control afterall!
Are you using Microsol, the one with the red writing? I find that is too strong for recent Tamiya decals, and needs to be diluted or just stick with Microset. It does work well to give the painted on look like you say and is indespensable in making decals conform to complex shapes. You probably needen't worry about the rest of the decals doing the same thing, just follow Willmo's advice, take it easy with the Microsol and you should have no more problems. I hope when you finish you can take some photos and show us your Evo V (and other rallycars as well)

Hi.I built EVO V WRC kit a while ago. I didn't use any decal solution and the decals worked really well. I think microsol is too strong for the decals.

I'd have to agree about the microsol on Tamiya models: they are pretty strong for the decals. I use it only on curved areas or when they start peeling. I find warm water, a moist paper towel, and lots of patience are best for Tamiya decals on flat areas. If you try applying microsol to a flat area, then the decal wrinkles up and dries that way without flattening.
You can also try Gunze Mr. Mark Softer. That stuff is no where near as potent as Microsol. I used to have that stuff, but ended up spilling it all (oops!). But the bottle comes with a brush applicator, so it makes for a very good bottle for microsol! As for microset, it smells strangely like diluted vinegar.. Does anyone know whats in there? And would diluted vinegar have the same effect??
