im buyin a sx soon

my friend and i found a 240sx for sale for $800, im not sure what year it is, but it is lowered, has a sweet system, and is in good condition. the body is a little rough, as in dents, my friend and i shouldnt have a problem punchin em out but im just curious if that sounds like a reasonable price. the story behind the car...the previous owner, the guy who owned it before the owner now, bought it new, planned on makin it really fast, and never got the chance, he just kept it in storage for a long time. then this kid who im gonna buy it from, buys it from him for a few grand, it was in mint condition. in a few years, the kid beat the crap out of the car, but its a nissan right, it should last, i mean, my toyota got the crap beat out of it since i got my license, and its still great, i prefer nissan over toyota cuz they last forever, so i should think it would be ok. email me at [email protected] if ya want. otherwise i check this forum pretty much everyday, and let me know what ya think.

thanx,
paul

Re: im buyin a sx soon

nissans are nowhere the reliability of toyota, but they're pretty reliable. I wouldn't buy a car that's been beaten around though, but for $800 you could always get an engine swap. another KA for cheap

i think that nissans and toyotas are pretty much on the same scale when it come to reliability.... but for $800 i would go for it....a quick SR20DET swap and some suspension mods...and you be owning the road, i think its a good idea

thanx guys

ill go for it, but the car isnt even for sale yet, i just heard from a good source that it was, but when i does go up for sale, ill pounce on it like a cheetah. lol, ok maybe not, but ill get it as quick as i can. another thing that i forgot to ask about, my friends say it isnt such a good idea because of winter and a light rear ended car. how does it handle in the snow? im not gonna end up in the ditch too often am i?? just curious cuz i want to survive the winter without a bashed up car cuz i cant stop or turn or something.

oh, btw, i think nissans last longer because of cosmetics, i always see the good lookin 80's zx's and sx's, but maybe the owners just baby em, idk, but i always see beaten 80's toyotas that just seem to wanna die, but cant. lol
i just like the look of the older nissans, and they seem to look good for longer
thanx
paul

you drove when you were 14?

when i was 16 i drove a sentra with 215,000K on it. i beat the shit outta that car, neutral drops every day, shifting it like a manual, even offroading. i was stupid. but the car ran strong till the day i sold it.

my uncle had an isuzu pickup with over 300,000 when he sold it, no joke. it still ran, but it wasn't pretty to look at. do u think isuzus are reliable? cuz i don't.
