STi is stock and the 5.0 has a rebuilt motor with ford racing parts what would win in a drag thanks.

depends. the sti is a low 13's car, and the old school 5.0's aren't tough to get into the 12's. need more information about the 5.0 (wut exactly is done), or else...wut dumped said.

it averages low 13 sec slips....on super2nr tv they compared the sti and evo and they propelled the sti to a 12.7 stock....

i think the sti would win by a close margin those things are beast and are wicked fast. I been begging my dad to get one and we went and test drived it that thing takes off like a bat out of hell. when i was at the dealership the guy told me that some car company testing it got the car to do 12.1 on the 1/4 now mind u thats a perfessional driver and he can shift fast as hell and all and knows what hes doing but it gots alot of portential. correct me if i am wrong but the sti has a awsome differnental that u can control power distrubation to the 4 tires and in the locked mode u like the diffental kinda like a posi and with 300 hp on tab and a strightaway the thing is gonna fly. the sti is not really light its like 3500 pounds but isnt a 5.0 alot too like in the 4000's my 96 gt ways about 4500. the big problem though with the sti the computer is too damn smart. if u put a cold air intake to up horsepower the engine senses it lowers boast pressure to maintain 300 hp and come up with the code overboost. the dealership ahd to go though 4 different cold air intakes before one worked. The japenese couldnt crack the computer and visnhu is trying to now and if u can crack the computer then the car has a huge protentail the engine is all forged internals and can handle 25 lbs. of boost crack the computer up the boost and its slightly modifed like the 5.0 and lets see what happends

Haha, I gotta ask... where did you come up with those weight numbers for the Mustang?

'92 Mustang 5.0 LX Coupe
Weight: 3010lbs

'96 Mustang GT
Weight: 3077lbs

'03 Impreza WRX(non STi)
Weight: 3085lbs

The STi might be a tad heavier, but not by much.

Since the guy says the Mustang has 'Ford Racing' products on the motor... but doesn't state what kind of products. I'm going to have to say the STi will straight own Mustang.

I like the STI but, drag racing is what the 5.0 does best. Plus it sounds like the 5.0 has been built up pretty good. And the most important thing in any race is the driver. So with the STI driver only having driven his car/stick for a month he is really at a disadvantage against the 5.0 driver who knows his car/stick.

So IMO 5.0 > STI
