Cam question

I am looking for sugestions on what type of cam to put in a 95 a 94 gmc sierras. My cousin is wanting to put one in his and I was thinking of also doing mine at the same time. I was that I do not have to replace lifters but a mechanic at my work. I was also told by a sales manto replace them if the truck had over 100,000 miles on them. He also said the lifters are like $50 a piece. Is that right? $50X16 is a lot of money. I was gust looking to get some advice before we actually get started. Thanks for any replys.

Re: Cam question

I have a 91 seirra 2500. and just changed the cam. your very limited because of your puter, but my full cam, lifters, as well as true roller chain was under 200.00 and well worth it, I personaly opted for the edelbrock instead of the seemingly popular comp cam stuff and saved 50.00 bucks, but I also live just down the street from edelbrock, and have had good luck with them.
